What to Bring to Admissions

At Sunshine Recovery Center we are often asked what should I bring (or not bring) to the facility. To make this process easier we have compiled a list of things to bring and not bring which hopefully will make this emotional time less stressful.

What to Bring

  • Your insurance cards and a form of identification (driver’s license, passport, etc.)
  • A list of names, addresses and phone numbers of those you wish to have involved in your treatment (loved ones, healthcare professionals, 12 step sponsors, etc.).
  • Your current prescription medication in the original pharmacy bottle with the information label intact. You should also bring a list of all your past medications and dosages.
  • A small amount of cash ($50 to $100 in smaller bills for store runs, vending machines, etc.)
  • Pictures of your loved ones to keep in your room or wallet.
  • At least a week’s worth of clothing. Be sure to pack clothes that are easy to wash and do not require special care, such as dry cleaning. Be sure that your clothes are both comfortable and appropriate.
  • Bring thirty days worth of toiletries and beauty products, including deodorant, toothbrush & toothpaste, shampoo & conditioner, hair styling products, comb or brush, feminine hygiene products, shaving cream, lotions, sunscreen if needed, and makeup products.

What Not To Bring

  • Drugs & Alcohol
  • Electronic Cigarettes
  • Aerosols
  • Narcotics or Prohibited Prescriptions
  • Unapproved OTC Medications
  • Cleaning Supplies
  • Weapons (Guns, Knives, Etc)
  • Nail Polish Or Nail Products
  • Electronics (TV, Games, Etc)
  • Pornography
  • Sporting Equipment
  • Jewelry (unless you consider it to be a necessity, like your wedding ring or a watch). Leave valuable items at home.
  • Candles or Incense
  • Toiletries or Beauty Products That Contain Alcohol (Mouthwash)
  • Revealing Clothing (Tank Tops, Etc)
  • Clothing With Profanity or Drug/Alcohol References
